Elko Nevada

Sort of caught up in a whirlwind of decision, so hopefully these next two months will go by in a nice slow steady pace so that in the end it really doesn't feel like the aftermath of a natural disaster. But I think we're going to do it. Eyes closed and jump into that tornado.

We're moving.

Again.

Spent one year in Reno and loved every minute of it. Beyond a blessing it has been to be placed here. Great people. Great Friends. Great Callings. Great apartment. Great Doctor. Great weather, oh how I've loved the weather. But suddenly another opportunity was presented to us. Something that would help Mitch move along on his career at the pace he's been planning. And we all know Mitch has a lot of drive in this department so how could we pass this up.

It's not a promotion, not at first. We have to get there and get him integrated into there culture. Sort of like adapting to alien life forms we can't just show up and change everything. So here we go. I think it's at the end of April, he'll give me more information tonight after work. To Elko Nevada. Interesting place this Elko. Can't really find much on it when it comes to an internet search. It's a mining town. Guess they have Gold hiding in them their mountains. *Shrugs* Sounds a bit made up huh. So I Wikipedia'd it:

* Elko was one of the settings and filming locations of the 2005 film Don't Come Knocking (Never seen it never will)
* Elko and Elko County are major settings in Dean Koontz's novel Strangers.
* Elko is mentioned as the one place he would like to be if he could choose, by the lead character, "Phil the Weatherman", played by actor Bill Murray, in the movie, Groundhog Day.
* And yes they do have Gold Mines in them Mountains. (shiny)

Interesting facts? Naw not really. It is located exactly between Reno and Salt Lake City and is directly South of Mountain Home. Basically four hours to get to real civilization, but kind of interesting how that worked out. We'll be a bit closer to family but still so far out of reach it'll be a pain getting to us. But that's what being stuck in Nevada is like. Anywhere in Nevada. It's the middle of Nowhere, where ever you go.
