Here here we are! FOUR years later!
Check this boy out!!
This kid brings me so much joy and this past year has been such a rush of adventure. The beginning of 3 was so hard, but here at the end I know I'm going to miss it.
This past year Mason has become ...
* Silly: Mason has become such a silly boy. Making faces is his specialty. Referencing Beans is his other staple joke. And when he really wants to show off, which is whenever he has an audience, you will find him throwing himself on the ground pretending to faint, or be a dinosaur, or tiger. Our FaceTime calls have gotten very interesting.
* Dancing: He loves to dance and make you laugh. We've set aside time during every day to turn on Pandora and just dance together. Rhythm and coordination haven't quite caught up to him yet but he's not afraid to try and impress. He also loves to watch tap dancing. Singing in the rain and White Christmas, still are his favorite shows.
* Memorization: He gave a scripture in primary last month and he nailed it. Memorized it perfectly and got up and repeated it without any help. He's very proud when he manages to remember something he memorized. Though sometimes he gets to excited and mixes up the articles of faith. He knows them, but sometimes they blend together when he recites them.
* Reading: He loves to read. Especially with daddy. Books about dinosaurs, construction vehicles, gold bug, tickle monster, etc. There are so many he claims are his favorite. But if you tell him the scriptures are among his choices he will claim they are his favorite every time. He loves to read the scriptures. He loves to carry them around the house. I think I've been successful at reading them everyday because he's so good at asking if we can read them together. I love this boy. He's helping me better myself in so many ways.
* Sunbeam: This year Mason became a sunbeam. And he LOVES it! If we miss church because someone's sick or earlier when Tanner couldn't go, Mason was so disappointed he had to miss Sunbeams. He loves his class and talks about his teacher all the time. In fact, she talks about Mason too. His teacher caught us at Walmart the other day and said Mason is the best sunbeam. We humbly said, thank you and she said, "No, really. He's wonderful." He's always helpful and has yet to throw a tantrum. Excited to participate and does well sitting through singing time and sharing time. I poked my head in primary, and sure enough while all the other sunbeams were wiggling around or had there fidgets, Mason sat in his chair, his hands prepped and ready to raise them whenever given the opportunity.
* Big Brother: Mason became a big brother a few months ago and boy is he LOVING it! Though he's having a hard time adjusting to sharing mommy and daddy's attention, he's more interested in holding, helping and squeezing baby brother. When TK is asleep, Mason is first to check on him and often has a hard time not waking TK up in the process.
* Great Friend: He's gone to play at others homes and I have been told several times he is a sweetheart. Makes sure to ask politely for toys and carries on the most entertaining conversations. I am so grateful for those friends that have come and taken him out for a play date while TK and I stayed at home. It was great for Mason.
* Loves to learn: If mommy fails to make time for a preschool lesson, Mason quickly points it out and asks what we are going to do about. He's tracing his letters and attempting to write them without the mommy helping aids.
* Favorite FHE game: Don't eat Pete - he has a hard time waiting for Monday nights to play it. Also Jenga. And he doesn't just knock the tower down he likes to see how many blocks he can remove first. He does pretty well.
* Puzzles: Still loves to put together puzzles. Easily puts together his paw patrol puzzles by himself, though he still likes to ask for help.
* Tractor Blanket: yep he still shoves a blanket in his mouth. Can't sleep without it. It often stinks so we have it in the wash frequently but he's very good at putting it in the wash himself, and then folding it when pulled out of the dryer.
* Texting: He enjoys sending messages on mommy's phone. Recorded messages, text messages, video messages. He loves it and often doesn't know when to stop. So if you've gotten several, it's because he's hiding with my phone somewhere, and I have yet to find him.
* Picky Eater: He's gradually gotten worse at eating his meals and is often fine going without food instead of eating what's in front of him. Doesn't like to eat when there are people around to play with. But mostly lives off of: PB and Honey Sandwiches. Oatmeal. German Pancakes. Pancakes. French Toast. So most breakfast foods, except Eggs. He will not eat eggs. Even Mac n Cheese has slowly disappeared from his list of likable foods. Hoping year four will change.
* Sensitive to smells: Has many smells he just doesn't like. Most prominent is the smell of Cheerios, which mommy eats often. Also Eggs. Thus I often hear the words, "I just don't like that smell."
* "No Thank You." : If your doing something and he wants you to stop, you'll hear him say, "No thank you!" Such as tickling, he'll be laughing hysterically and when he wants to get away, "No thank you! NO THANK YOU!!" ..... It's hilarious.
* Daddy's day off: The play place, Any park. Helping daddy work outside. Bowling. Or Tennis on the Wii.
* Best friends: In his own words, "My best friends is Kayla. And Abi. And William. and Sam. And Emily. Oh and of course Daddy."
Mason has changed so much over this past year. Imagining the changes coming this next year really excite me. What things will he learn, what experience he will have and how he will grow.
Bring on Year four! It's going to be a great Adventure!
