Today is a day to cry.
Those tears that I was holding back, along with new ones. They can fall now.
Prompted by the heartbreak of a friend as we mourn the loss of a beloved child, one conceived mere weeks ago.
My heart hurts as the memories flood back. Memories of celebration when we discovered we finally going to have a baby that were then followed by that moment of shock and pain when that little life was gone so suddenly. My body grows cold even now remembering the shock of my own experiences, which is why it hurts to think of what my this sweet family is going through right now.
Cherish your little joys, no matter how old they are.
Recognize how much of a blessing they are because mortality is difficult.
A prayer to all mothers that have experienced that gut wrenching loss, no matter the age of the departed child. May we be blessed with the strength to stand. The strength God wills us, to move forward. We will meet them again. We will hold them again. They are wrapped in the arms of our Savior surrounded by his warmth and love, waiting for that joyous day.
