"Mommy sad?"

Mommy was sad. She thought she'd just quietly cry in the kitchen while Mason played in the other room and then move on with the day. Turns out Mason has pretty good ears, because from the living room mommy heard him say, "Mommy sad?"
The two year old boy suddenly came running into the kitchen to find his mommy sitting on the floor, knees tucked into her chest, and in tears. "Uh, oh. mommy's sad." He repeated. Quickly running to mommy, giving her three gentle kisses on the cheek.
       "It's okay, Mommy."
       "Thanks Mason."
Instantly Mason ran back into the living room. Mommy figured he was going back to playing cars, however seconds later Mason again ran around the corner, arms full of his favorite blankets. All three of them.
"Here mommy." Mason piled the blankets in her arms. "Mommy have three blankets." He pat the blankets gently before running back into the living room.
By this time Mommy's tears had stopped, but Mason wasn't done.
Next he came running back with his sippy-cup of milk, "Mommy, have some milk."
       "Thank you Mason." Mommy sniffed.
"Mommy has boogers!" He disappeared again only to return with a used tissue that he had hidden somewhere. He quickly gave it to mommy.
"Thank you Mason. Can you get me a new tissue. They're under the desk."
"oh-KAY!" Heals in the air he ran back into the living room. This time he took a while, and Mommy could hear the quiet 'whoosh. whoosh. whoosh' of several tissues being removed from the box.
"Uh, Mason. Could you please bring mommy the whole box please?" Thinking this was the safer way for a toddler to complete this task. Second later Mason waltz' around the corner, with the box of tissue in one hand and a huge pile of twenty tissues tucked under his other arm.
"Here you go Mommy." Mason hands mommy the box and then the armful of tissues.
"Thank you Mason." Again tears fell from mommy's eyes, though for a different reason, but Mason didn't know that.
"Mommy sad." He turned and ran, this time returning with his favorite teddy bear. "Mommy holds Chris." He piled the bear into Mommy's arms. And then another light bulb seemed to turn on behind Mason's big brown eyes. He ran for his room, returning with Chris' usual bedtime companion, Giraffe. He placed Giraffe beside Chris in Mommy's arms. Then again disappeared.
      He returned with Mouse.
      Then Dog.
      Next Oversize Frog.
      Monkey.
      Little Chris.
Lastly, while Mommy was buried underneath all his blankets, and stuffed animals, Mason pulled out his little Tractor board book. Sitting down on the floor in front of her.
      "I read Tractors."
Page by page he flipped through that board book pointing to the tractors, telling the mound of fluff each kind and color on the page. Then he got up put his arms around the huge pile, patting mommy on the back.
      "It's okay mommy."
The story doesn't end there. He continued to dance and sing and entertain using the whole kitchen floor as his stage. Soon Mommy felt so good she couldn't stay sitting anymore.

Kids are so precious.
My kid, is my personal Angel. I love you Mason.
