Our plans to go play in Provo were interrupted today by a little snow storm. So Mason and I planned to stay inside and bake. We made some brownies and some cookie dough to put in the freezer. So now we can make random cookies throughout the week. (Rolo cookies and and Andes Mint Cookies we'd have made more but ... refer to picture.)
After continuously "tasting" the dough while making it, we decided we SHOULDN'T make anymore treats. It was cute though. All I heard was Mason saying "Taste. Taste." Until he had some in his mouth. And for that split second he was quite until again "Taste. Taste."
Well after getting cleaned up, and resolved to the fact there was no more tasting, we looked at the clock and only one hour had past. Oh dear, it's not even lunch yet. So we strapped on our snow clothes, and went out into the snow storm.
The intention was to get a head start on shoveling the sidewalk. Hoping it would be a nice surprise for daddy to come home and only have one foot of snow to shovel, instead of two. After five or six passes with the shovel I realized how clean and sticky this snow was. Next thought -
SNOWMEN OF DOOM!
I've always wanted to do snowmen of doom. Or even a little snowman army. And ideas raced through my head. So Mason and I started with one snowman. Building a snowman with a toddler is hard. But he did really good at "pat pat pat"-ing the snow down. We managed to get one snowman up by the time Lunch rolled around. Mason was exhausted. So inside we went. We managed to get undressed, eat, and nap.
(By the way it is still snowing during this time. Never stopped)
After our nap and a bit of indoor play, Mason was ready to go outside again. Piling on the snow clothes again we finally made outside. It had snow so much that our snowman had fallen over. Quickly we picked up his head and sort of put him back together (we might have added a head). I started clearing the driveway again for our second snowman. And I can honestly tell you that I was clearing the exact same spot I had before, and I was getting more snow than I had that morning. It was crazy.
After piling enough for the second snowman, Mason gave me another idea.
"Slide. Slide." he continued to say jumping into the pile I had just made. He's been saying it for weeks. And since I'm a mom that's too cheap to just buy my kid a toddler slide - I made him one.
Of course it helped that he was sliding down the pile of snow while I was packing it. He pretty much could have made it himself. but it has steps on the side you can't see. Oh yeah I did that! And there's a ledge because he's a kid and we have to look like we're trying to be safe.
He could have played out there forever. Actually I could have played out there forever. I was having so much fun. If it keeps snowing I will make my snowmen of doom. I just have to stay focused, and that's really difficult with a toddler.
That is all. We love you and hope you're basking in the glow of Christmas. We are!
P.S. The driveway never did get shoveled. (oops)

Great Post! I love your tree setup. its so cute! As for snowmen of doom I am proud to say I am a pro when it comes to making snowmen armies. I can even show you a little trick using red gravel to make blood...yeah our yard look a lot like Halloween by the time our dad got home from work. the best was blocking off the driveway with huge snowmen so he couldn't pull in. Ah memories!
